Grey and tired tarmac, back to black

Tarmac does not wear out as fast as it looks like it does. The grey, dusty finish is the binder weathering out of the surface, and moss gets a grip in the gaps it leaves. We clear the moss and weeds, clean the surface at the right pressure so nothing is lifted, and then apply a Back to Black restoration sealer.

The result is a deep, even black that looks like a new drive at a fraction of the cost of resurfacing, and the sealer protects the tarmac from water and frost for years.

What is Back to Black?

A tarmac restoration sealer. Tarmac fades to grey as the binder weathers out of the surface. Back to Black replaces that binder, so the drive goes deep black again and the surface is protected from water, frost and weeds.

Can you pressure wash tarmac?

Carefully, yes. Too much pressure lifts the stone out of old tarmac, so we clean at the right pressure and treat the moss first rather than blasting it.

How long does it last?

Two to four years depending on traffic and how much sun the drive gets. A second coat later on is quick and cheap compared with resurfacing.
